Abstract:
Digital models represent one of the types of data for representing biophysical phenomena that are applied in the Geographical Information System (GIS). Geographic information system (GIS), as a part of Geoinformation Sciences deals with a complete system of creation, handling, storage, manipulation, use, analysis and presentation of information related to the Earth’s surface. Digital models enable the organization of content on a higher qualitative and visual level compared to classical vector and raster data in GIS. When applied in combination with other types of GIS data digital models create synergy and raise the presentation system and scope of possible multi-criteria thematic and topological analyzes to a significantly higher level. The research includes the creation of a GIS for the area of the Skadar Lake region and Montenegro. The paper presents: a digital relief model (DEM) with a 20 m pixel size resolution that covered an area of 4150 km2, a digital model of the bathymetry of Skadar Lake and models of four sublacustrine lake eyes. For the part of the Adriatic Sea in the length of Skadar Lake the bathymetry model is also shown. Climatic zones for the area of the Skadar Lake region as well as another 20 digital climate models for the area of Montenegro are also shown.
